Steps of the Procedure
- Diagnosis. X-rays and a physical evaluation are done so your dentist can understand the severity of the damage that’s occurred.

- Opening and Pulp Removal. With a dental drill, an opening is made in the top of your tooth to access the pulp chamber. The mass is extracted.
- Cleaning and Filling. The chamber is thoroughly cleaned to ensure that reinfection doesn’t happen. Gutta-percha, a biocompatible material is used to seal the opening shut.
- Restoration. A temporary crown is slipped over the treated tooth to protect it while a permanent one based on your oral dimensions is made; it will be ready 1-2 weeks later.
